Travel reflection

July 16, 2018

Hi guys. It’s been a minute. I hope summer has been as wonderful and relaxing as you wished for! Today, I’m coming to you with kinda a different layout than usual. For almost the past month, I travelled with my family, a long road trip up the eastern coast and then flew out to Hawaii to meet my cousins and grandparents for a cruise. It was a great experience getting to see so many different places and things in such different settings over about 25 days. I really loved every minute of it. Here’s what I got out of my travels, sometimes the present is all we have. It really is all we are in control of, how we perceive, understand, and respond to it. As a person, I always love to look ahead and plan the future. I want to be in control and know what I’m doing all the time; however, what truly was the beauty of the past month was that I was not in control. Half the time, I didn’t know what I was doing that day until the night before or when I woke up that morning. Especially on the road trip, my dad loves taking the time to plan out special adventures and fun things to see which he would keep a surprise. Let me tell you, when something becomes a surprise, it immediately becomes more exciting. In Hawaii, I went on tours with my family that I had no clue where I was being led. However, once we would get there, I would be in awe of the amazing views God had made thousands of years ago. Seriously so beautiful! All of this goes to say that the best things come when we let go of our plans and surrender to the present and God’s will. The beauty of living in the present is the fact that you can truly enjoy it! We spend too much time worrying about the next plan, the next day, so we miss out on a lot of the great things that God is doing in our lives right now. “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16).

With love,

C

Blessings,
